An eclectic mix of pop, rock and blues, The Phil Jacobson Band strives to uplift its audience through classic grooves and inspirational lyrics. Their mission: “We like to make people feel good.”
Phil Jacobson is a singer/songwriter currently making his mark on the independent music scene in South Florida. Originally from the great city of Chicago, Jacobson’s style is a direct reflection of his hometown’s renowned music culture. A musician from birth, Phil began expressing his talents on the piano, playing the music of the Beatles and reveling in the sounds of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton. At age 15 he picked up the guitar and began singing and that changed everything. “The guitar was a great escape for me. I liked that I could sit and just sing and play.” Phil spent the next few years fine-tuning his craft at festivals and venues around the Chicago area until 2004 when he moved to Miami to study jazz at the “U”. When asked about his time there Phil explains that “It opened up my ears to new sounds and harmonies… it gave me the versatility to experiment.” Phil used his time in school to hone his skills as a musician and songwriter while also gaining lots of experience as a performer. During his residence at the University of Miami, Phil had the fortune of sharing the stage with many industry heavyweights including Raul Midon, Jon Secada and Bruce Hornsby. He also received the prestigious Downbeat Award as a member of the Jazz Vocal 1 Ensemble.
In 2010, Phil along with good friends Taylor Byrd (Guitar), Alex Hoyt (Keys), Brian Tate (Bass) and Brian Lange (Drums) formed The Phil Jacobson Band. They recorded and released their first studio EP entitled “Around It Goes” later that year. Now the guys are hitting the ground running playing locally around the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas with their sights set on major success. “The sound of the band is continually evolving and we’re excited to spread a little feel good music around the world.”
